Now, back to work.

As what you expected, I dig around, trying to setup the password for my root access. I found it somewhere. Unfortunately, there were about 3 users with the same username: root. Then, I changed the password. Guess what,

I BRICKED MY ROOT ACCESS.

After watching how Crynobone doing the setup for my Zend Server CE, I took interest with the power or Terminal (Mac/Linux). I started to dig and Google around to read how to use the mysql with Terminal, where to access the Zend’s MySQL database and functions. After a lot of try-and-error, I managed to display this information within my Terminal:

As you can see, I have 3 types of host using the same user: root and all of them have the same password. I guessed that this might be the reason why the system can’t create my access cookies/session. Having minimal knowledge on MySQL code and functions, I reseted all user: root with no password. Or you can call it the original status of the table.

AND I’M BACK INTO THE GAME. I RECLAIM MY ACCESS.

Haha. So, that is my story for today. As a noob in the web development world, I faced a lot try-and-error and a lot of experimentation in order to learn something and today I’ve learn something powerful: using mysql from Terminal.

I rest my case.

Again, the world first class pain is back: toothache. And it came back so sudden, yesterday evening. The affected tooth was only one molar, which seems to experienced cavity.

Root Canal (RC):
A root canal is the space within the root of a tooth. It is part of a naturally occurring space within a tooth that consists of the pulp chamber (within the coronal part of the tooth), the main canal(s), and more intricate anatomical branches that may connect the root canals to each other or to the surface of the root. Even though, it looks like a simple toothache, root canal is the world first pain because it happened deep inside your tooth, affecting your nerves. The pain will include normal toothache, additional toothache at nearby teeth, a pain in/around your ear, your eyes, your neck, simply said all the nerves around your head.

One throbbing from the toothache simultaneously affect the other areas in your head.

Therefore, I’ve been awake since yesterday, trying to content the pains. Luckily, I managed to set an appointment on this Sunday for my RCT (root canal treatment) at one private clinic in Section 8, Shah Alam.

Endodontic therapy:
Endodontic therapy is a sequence of treatment for the pulp of a tooth which results in the elimination of infection and protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbial invasion. This set of procedures is commonly referred to as a “root canal.” Root canals and their associated pulp chamber are the physical hollows within a tooth that are naturally inhabited by nerve tissue, blood vessels and other cellular entities. Endodontic therapy involves the removal of these structures, the subsequent cleaning, shaping, and decontamination of the hollows with tiny files and irrigating solutions, and the obturation (filling) of the decontaminated canals with an inert filling such as gutta percha and typically a eugenol-based cement.
After endodontic surgery the tooth will be “dead,” and if an infection is spread at apex, root end surgery is required. Wiki.

It’s not that I put Steve Jobs as my idol. However, knowing that this person was a person who lived in a life with ideas and creative solutions, I’m curious to know his thinking mechanism.

Personally, I respected Steve Jobs the way  I respected Tun Dr Mahathir.

These two people, who I lived during their era, are two great minds. I pray that I can see more people (or me myself) as astonishing like them.

Went to my secondary school this evening because I wanted to send some food and meet my younger brother, which is also my super junior. Arrived there with a big heart to comfort my brother who is sitting for SPM later this year, but was disappointed with the condition of the school, or accurately the hostels and the residents.

To summarize how I felt, let me put it in one word: Setinggan (squatter)

Received an invitation from friend, @MohdIsmail to accompany him at this event. The foods were oh-em-gee. Too bad, I was the wrong guy, at the wrong occasion.

Ok. This is my first post written using OmmWriter. Simple, minimal, nice background sound to aid my writing. Not to forget the sound of every single keystroke I pushed.

Get back to our main story or reason why I put up this post. An idea. An idea which I stumbled while I was praying Tarawih (yes I know, I know). This idea came to me 2 days back.

The idea:

A school programme; a 3 or 4 days comprehensive ICT related programme, much like Hackweekend, but its a competition. There will be several categories:
- Designing useful website (it doesn’t has to be a complex webapp, just site)
- Designing prints: Poster / Brochure / Business card / etc
- Presentation on current ICT related issues
- 5 minutes short video / movie

Discussion:

The competition will be taking place inside the school compound itself, utilising Linux based Operating System (OS) and Free Open Sourced Software (FOSS) to cut cost and at the same time promoting free (or cheaper) computer setup.

At the same time, it also challenge the competitors to learn something new, safer and UNIX-based development platform, not just the known Windows platform.

The idea of this competition is to promote creative thinking within our younger generations because their creativity and exploration capabilities are much suppressed due to the ‘need’ of paper based education and exams.

I will not say that we don’t need papers or exams, but these pupils are lacking of creativity, self expressions, ability to speak in front of people and presentations. They need some platform which they are much into it, and able to express them in their own way. Nowadays, they way I see it, youngsters are related to ICT (social networking, Internet based reading and writing).

There are issues, such as:
- Who are going to teach them?
- Where can we get those facilities? PC / Mac / Clone Setup?
- Time?
- Will it be opened to other schools to join the competition?
- Government approval?

I will not explain the technical part of this idea, because everything is doable. It is just that, we need to see the theoretical part, vision and mission of this idea.

Do you know, that government has several programmes for sports, literature based events, debates and such. But do they officially support this kind of moves? Programmes that push students creativity in ICT? I hardly doubt so.

Back in my days, my friend and I have to be the all rounder. We do this and that, we went to higher administration to validate our moves and party just to make sure they are aware of our capabilities and creativity. Our studies aren’t much affected, and that is a different story.

The thing is, some students have huge talent in this business. Some of them are much talented that people we have in the industries. They just need some official support and guideline so that they can move further and excel better.

I would rather suggest we start at school level. Among the students themselves.

We let them make their own team. Each team will be given tasks. Such as above, and they have to prepare them within 3/4 days. They need more than just few team members. This will promote teamwork, ideas pooling and brainstorm.

The topic will only be revealed on the night before the game started. At least they can kick their discussion and start working the next day.

They have a quarantine room. No other people allowed to go in, except the team members. Internet will be given. However, social sites are not allowed, namely Twitter, Facebook, Formspring, Foursquare and etc.

Given to them are several laptops or desktops; with Linux based Operating System installed, along with the applications needed for the task.

To host the website, we provide a dummy server, a local network so that it is accessible for the competition, and we can cut the cost of paying a hosting provider just for the sake of the programme.

Panel of evaluators has to be selected based on their respective field, professionals or someone in the field.

Assignments will be marked based on:
- Idea
- Design (user interface / readability / reason why they decided to use that design)
- presentation (each assignment will present coherently, different room or hall)
- originality
- anything else that matter

I wanted to write more, but I figure out that this post will turn into a paperwork and full of technical specifications. I leave it to all of you, to comment or issue any idea or any rebuttals toward this idea.

p.s: If any of those students managed to hack the server or access blocked address, it will be no harm. It is called creative way to get through your obstacles.
