When my laptop died almost a year ago, I had to live with GIMP for a few months before managing to get my hands on the Adobe CS3 suite installation disc I had at home. I would say that it's pretty much similar to PS, although some buttons are hard to find. But more importantly, it is released under the GNU license and it's for free. Everyone can use it without even needing to pay royalties which end up in the pockets of large (and evil) corporations, heh. Sweet.
