There was a day, when my friend flew back to Peninsular Malaysia for tuition free week. It was Kuala Lumpur. A few of them decided to utilise the public transport available all around Kuala Lumpur.

They took KTM commuters and it was an unlucky day for all of them; they were in the ‘Ladies Coach’ which is a single coach, apart from three cabins, just for ladies. There were staring eyes all over them. Don’t worry, they survived by changing cabin at the next stop.

I found out that there are stickers, announcement and signage about the new implemented system. But why, did these fellas still got into the wrong cabin?

So, I took the train several times, and here are the few reasons that I managed to conclude;

1. The icon of a woman in the logo is not really catchy. It is more to like showing ‘thumb’ when seen from afar.
2. A little adjustment by creating some lines to show a better hair would make it better.
3. The typography used is not suitable to be seen from far, or in flash. It took me about 5-7s just to read the word ‘Koc Wanita’ and ‘Ladies’ Coach’.
4. They should use blockish fonts which are more readable from distant.

Non-design related points:

1. More advertising about this system. Some of them are from outside KL and never heard of this.
2. The ladies are given 3 coaches, while there were only 2 for guys. Moreover, the special coach was not fully utilised by ladies.
3. An addition of one more coach would be better.
4. Ok, I should keep on writing about the logo, nothing else.

I understand that it is not an easy job to create a logo that is fully functional, but that is what the designer was paid for: to make sure it serve the purpose of having a logo which can symbolise and connect the viewer to the message at an instant.

p.s: Can’t the makciks, kakaks, and aweks dispart from the guys for a while, and fill up the ‘Ladies Coach’? The cabins are moving together, not independently. Oh please.
