Photojournalism #4 Workflow

Working in media industry will need you to sort millions of photos, video, work files and more. Moreover, you also need to keep safe of your data and files. For this, I suggest you ‘Chase Jarvis’ methodology.

However, you can alter the workflow to suit yourself: cost & structure. But, remember, it is good to start now and not later. Sooner is better. Take your time to sort out your stuff. Its going to be really worth it.

Its better for you to tag or put keyword to your files for easy searching and indexing later. Use Adobe Bridge or Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to help you with that issue.

Personal Photo Wall

Photos On My Wall

I want to do this long time ago, but I have no camera nor printer. However, this time it is different. At least I have my camera-phone, and I owned my personal printer which means I can easily print any photo that I want, unlimited. Haha.

For the time being, my photo wall is not quite a ‘wall’, but hopefully the number of photos on the wall will keep on growing and growing. I still have a lot of photos on my hard disk, but I will not print all of them. I prefer only the best and the chosen one to be on the wall, for the sake of quality control. Haha.

Besides that, if I have LOMO photos, the wall would be great too!

It was originally supposed to be my personal 365 Project, but due to several constrain, I decided just to continue with what I have.

A Fail Photo-shoot Session

Yesterday was supposed to be the day where final year students came to our photo-shoot session for their school magazine’s Final Year Student section. However, we waited from 12.30 p.m until 4.00 p.m but none of them showed their asses.

While waiting for them, we started with few try out shoot to set our backdrop and flash beam, but it went haywire and turn out to be a self-photo-shoot session instead. Haha. We cam-whore for the whole 3 hours and a half. That represents how boring we were, waiting for people which did not show up. Damn.

GIMP As An Alternative To Adobe Photoshop

For those who wants an alternative to Adobe Photoshop, they can choose GIMP as a replacement. However, GIMP interface is not the same as Photoshop arrangement, thus user tend to fall back to Adobe applications. It is because, the GIMP interface itself is confusing and a little less user-friendly. I have tried GIMP before, but it was back then, when I booted into Ubuntu and need to edit some photos.

Image Editing : Evaluate Me

At first, I want to write an entry about something else, or answering all those tags or open a question for all of you, but ended writing about image editing. I’m sure, there are a lot of people who don’t even know what a Adobe Photoshop is, or, some who even use it for their work, a tool that he / she must have. There are some other software that has the capability to edit an image, such as GIMP, Coral Suite and such. So, don’t say to yourself, “I don’t know how to edit my photos, because I can’t afford to buy Adobe Photoshop”. GIMP is a open source software, which means it is free. However, I haven’t got my time to master it yet, as I’m still waiting the update for the interface as I hate docking / floating windows.

Furthermore, those who know how to use Photoshop or edit their images, got their own style of editing, from oldies, grunge, soft, hard, clean, dirty and much more. Here, I attach one of my simple colour enhanced photo. Please give your comment about my style and error on colouring / white balance / what-so-ever-relate to editing an image or photo.

Bored Day : Delayed Post [UPDATED]

Being a student of BSc (Applied Geology) doesn’t meant that your happy hours are not available. Yup, sometimes, we do feel bored while studying. That’s normal, for a normal student I might say. Hik hik Here, I want to rant about the life of a Geology student in Curtin Miri, Sarawak.

You will tend to use your laptop in your class, in any seconds you have. Like I do I always have a seat at the back of the class, or beside the glass wall (yes, we have a class with transparent glass wall) as I can reach Deconnexion for internet connection. Hahaha Seriously, sometimes, I did surfing in the class.. No no no.. MOST OF THE TIME (only, when SARAH is with me).

I would like to credit to Waniedakie, the owner of the Alpha 300. These photos were taken using her camera. She was wearing a red and yellow ‘baju kurung’, with long hair.

In one of these photos, you might encounter a photo with people sleeping on the couch, and the bags were on the table. This photo were taken minutes before we enter the class, a late evening class, a geology class. We were told that we have a ’5 Minutes Quiz’, and we supposed to do some revision as others did, but we were too tired, so, we took a nap instead.
