Having using a Mac for 5 months, will lead you to several applications that were supposed to help you with your work productivity. As for me, I do have my own choice of applications that I use daily, and some of them almost never left closed. There are thousands, or maybe millions type of application and tools (software based) in this world that can help you with your daily needs, and myself don’t even have the chance to try every single of them. Ok, I will list down my favourite applications :

    1. Safari (Mac / Win)
This is my first top Internet Browser. You not going to feel the full performance if you were using the Windows version, as it is not that stable and was ported from Mac. However, I choose this browser because the speed of rendering the CSS is nice, and not to forget, the engine to render image is better than other types of browser. Don’t believe me? Go and test by yourself, open a full colour image (photo) on both of Safari and your chosen browser. You can see the different it renders the colour of the image.
    2. Coda (Mac)
Ok, this application only available for Mac. It is very smart and smooth code editor for developing a website from scratch. The speed of the embed FTP (known as Transmit) and the easy to use interface really hook me up to this application. Seriously, it is a combo for a developer, as it has FTP, SVN and CSS Editor by itself. The ability to manage your project using thumbnail also one of the factor I love this app. For me, I never regret on using this app, even there are many more free IDE apps out there. I use this a lot to develop my projects. I love it!
    3. Photoshop CS4 (Mac/Win)
An image editor and photo manipulation app that will be installed on almost every computer nowadays, because it is a very powerful and awesome. The ability to integrate with Apple Multi Touch system really helps you while editing your image or designing your artwork. You can rotate, zoom like you were using iPhoto. The ability to utilize your GPU as OpenGL really boost things up. I use this app to create and edit most of the image or design of my project. Don’t worry, if you are still using CS3, no need to upgrade you version yet, as CS4 doesn’t come in x64 for Mac, only for Windows. Sorry for that.
    4. MAMP (Mac)
This is an app that serve me a local based PHP Server. It is the same concept with LAMP (Linux), EasyPHP (Win) and many more apps that will create and help your localhost internet system to support PHP Server. This app does not interfere with Mac built in php server that can be activated with several switch. I love this app too! Woot! I think, it is a need for a web developer to have this installed on his/her computer, so that he/she can preview the site live on its localhost, before uploaded to the real server.
    5. Adium (Mac)
To replace Yahoo Messenger for Mac, which is not that stable anyway. I use this app because it is light, and I can login to my Google Talk ID on the same app. Nothing much different from Pidgin (Win). And there are a lot more application that behave the same way as Adium did, you just need to search for it. Hehe.
    6. TweetDeck (Mac)
This is an Adobe AIR app that I used to communicate with my Twitter. Nice and the most stable I tested so far for Mac. Thus, I need no more to go to the original website just to twit or check any reply. Love this!
    7. Mail (Mac)
This application work the same as Microsoft Outlook does: manage and read your emails offline. I integrate my GMail account with this application, so that, I can utilize GMail IMAP system. No more duplicate or lost email! Hahaha.
    8. NetNewsWire (Mac)
Ok, as a blog reader, RSS Reader is always a handy tool for your daily life. This software will automatically download any MP3 embed in the post and I can always read it later because the RSS is downloaded onto my laptop. Except for the images, you need to be online to be able to download it. Huhu. There are many more Feed reader, even Google has its own reader.
    9. Paparazzi! (Mac)
This is a very useful app for anyone who wants to capture the shot of the webpage visited. This app can capture a full height of the page and can be save in several different formats: JPG, PNG and more. I use this when I need to show the whole design of the page to my customer.
    10. VMWare Fusion (Mac)
This is a virtual machine application, means that, it will virtually run any other Operating System on your parent operating system, which mine is Leopard. You can run XP, Ubuntu or what ever you want, on the same time your running your parent system, no need to reboot. Means that you can have more that one system at one time. For more, just visit the developer page of this application (Google by yourself, sorry). It is very useful for me as I need to test and debug my web project on IE6/IE7, or any windows based internet browser.

P.S: I love Opera too, it works like a charm on a Mac. Hehe. Firefox? A bit heavy here.
